Tests

The time-frequency resolution of digitized data, the precision along the temporal axis between consecutive images and the intensity dynamics has been tested at several occasions with test films. The illustration below provides a good example of it.

Science cases

The comparison of Figure 2 from (Boischot et al., 1971) which displays solar radio bursts recorded at Arcecibo, but printed with a low enough dynamics so that the bursts are barely visible, with the high resolution digitized image of the corresponding film, with an excellent dynamics, is illustrated below. The film inspection also enabled us to retrieve the observing date, namely the 25th July 1970, which was missing in the publication. Some handwritten traces at the bottom of the film indicate the interval of interest, used later on in the article.
